Ochsner LSU Health System of North Louisiana is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pharmacist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and advancing medical science through research and education.
Key Responsibilities- Medication Management: Compound and dispense medications and pharmaceutical supplies upon receipt of written, electronic, or oral prescriptions from physicians or other qualified practitioners.
- Leadership and Supervision: Oversee the day-to-day activities of technical and clerical pharmacy staff and serve as the manager on duty when the manager is absent.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work with clinical staff to manage complex drug therapies for Specialty Medication and Transplant patients, provide drug information and patient education to physicians, patients, and other healthcare workers.
- Professional Development: Maintain professional and technical knowledge, ensure all licensures and certifications are up-to-date, and adapt behavior to the specific patient population.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree (Preferred: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D))
- Experience: 1 year of experience working with standard pharmacy and office equipment, experience working in a Retail/Community Pharmacy
- Certifications: Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Louisiana or eligibility for licensure
- Skills: Computer skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, ability to present information clearly and professionally
The physical demands of this role include exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The incumbent works with patients who have known or suspected communicable diseases and may enter isolation rooms, with potential to encounter hazardous medications and hazardous waste.
