We are seeking a skilled Medical Interpreter to join our team at RELA Language Professionals. As a Medical Interpreter, you will play a vital role in facilitating communication between healthcare providers and limited English proficient patients.

- Interpret medical advice and information accurately while maintaining confidentiality.
- Assure patient comprehension and assist with appointment scheduling.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to professional boundaries.
- Explain cultural differences or practices to healthcare providers and patients when appropriate.
- Exhibit a positive attitude, customer service orientation, and professionalism.
- Be punctual and adhere to the Code of Ethics for Interpreters in Healthcare.
Requirements:
- Fluency in English and the non-English working language, with the ability to understand complex grammar, structure, syntax, and medical terminology in both languages.
- Prior experience or training in medical terminology is preferred but not required, as long as the candidate is willing to learn and adapt quickly.
- One year of related experience and a high school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a nationally accredited 40-hour training program, such as Bridging the Gap or The Community Interpreter, or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to handle stressful situations, and cultural awareness.
- Flexibility and ability to work outside normal working hours.
- Pass a background check and health screening.
Working Conditions:
- Part-time/On-Call & Independent Contractor
- Salary: $18.00 - $33.00 per hour (depending upon language, experience, training)
