Job Overview:

The Junior Thermal Analysis Specialist plays a crucial role in providing support for comprehensive thermal and fluid dynamics assessments, testing, and technical assistance for AC and DC air-cooled and oil-cooled generators and electrical enclosures within the engineering division.

This position encompasses all stages of the projects, including but not limited to proposals, development, testing, and production support.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in and conduct thermal evaluations of both new and existing products.
  • Support system-level thermal and airflow modeling for electric generator assemblies and control units, as well as for subassemblies and individual components, considering factors such as losses, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and mass transport.
  • Analyze simulation outputs and provide insights for potential design enhancements.
  • Participate in and assist with technical reviews across design, manufacturing, and testing phases.
  • Initiate solutions for challenges related to ongoing products or new designs.
  • Develop testing strategies, analyze data, and validate models and simulations.
  • Assist in conducting environmental, developmental, and qualification tests on electrical generators and control units.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts for test failures associated with thermal limitations.
  • Comply with safety protocols and contribute to the health, safety, and environmental initiatives.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
  • Evening or extra hours may be required during peak business periods.

Physical Requirements:
  • This role frequently requires standing, walking, sitting, lifting, and using hands and fingers for various tasks.
  • Occasionally, lifting or moving objects up to 30 pounds may be necessary.

Work Environment:

The primary work setting is an office; however, depending on project phases, it may involve time spent on testing or production floors. Certain areas may require personal protective equipment (PPE).


Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in multi-physics modeling/simulations, preferably in rotating equipment or aerospace.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an Associate's Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of three years of relevant experience may be considered.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Familiarity with system modeling and simulation, design principles, and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Understanding of design, manufacturing, and testing processes within the aerospace sector.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Experience with ANSYS Workbench, including Fluent or CFX, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks or CATIA V5 is advantageous.
  • Ability to convey complex information clearly to team members with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel may be required, both domestically and internationally, but will not exceed 15%.
