Role Summary:


We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team at BluePearl Pet Hospital in Langhorne, PA.



About the Role:



  • Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures.
  • Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.
  • Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
  • Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.
  • Set up intravenous fluids and CRI's.
  • Continuous expansion of knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.
  • Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.
  • Comfortable with medical math.
  • Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery).
  • Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
  • Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.
  • Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.

What We Offer:



  • A competitive salary with a pay band of $21.00 - $43.00 per hour, dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system.
  • Competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.
  • A rotating on call schedule is required once training has been completed.


Requirements:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience as a veterinary technician or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
