Job Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Custodial Superintendent, the Custodial Worker is responsible for performing essential cleaning tasks to maintain the cleanliness and safety of facilities. The key duties include:
- Thoroughly cleaning offices, rooms, hallways, stairwells, lobbies, and other areas within the building.
- Executing floor care tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, waxing, and polishing (may involve relocating furniture).
- Cleaning both the interior and exterior of windows (may require the use of ladders).
- Maintaining public, private, and semi-private restroom facilities.
- Collecting and disposing of waste in designated containers.
- Transporting supplies and equipment between buildings as needed.
- Ensuring that the areas surrounding assigned buildings are kept tidy and orderly.
- Removing ice and snow from walkways and steps.
Candidate must possess elementary education and have a general understanding of cleaning techniques and maintenance practices. The ability to follow verbal and written instructions is essential, along with the capability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary to establish effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, co-workers, and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications:
One year of experience in custodial services is preferred.
Additional Comments:
Employees are not eligible for telecommuting/remote work during their initial probationary period. After this period, certain positions may allow for telecommuting/remote work at the discretion of the supervisor and in accordance with agency policies.
