Job Summary

The State of California is seeking a skilled Electrician I to join our Plant Operations Department. As an Electrician I, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing high-voltage electrical equipment, including transmission lines, generators, transformers, and switchboards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain electrical systems, including transmission lines, generators, transformers, and switchboards
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems to identify and resolve issues
  • Operate and set up electrical power generating plants
  • Maintain an electrical shop, including inventory management and equipment maintenance
  • Advise and collaborate with other tradespeople on electrical projects
  • Develop and implement electrical safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior staff members
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical systems installation and maintenance
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and regulations, including OSHA and NFPA standards
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
