Join Our TeamThe Asher House LLC is seeking a compassionate and experienced Animal Welfare Specialist - Companion Care to join our team. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for ensuring the physical and mental well-being of our companion animals.

We offer a competitive salary of $20.00 per hour, along with a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and 401k.

Job Responsibilities
  • Daily Animal Care:
    • Providing daily care for our companion animals, including feeding, watering, medicating, exercising, and enriching their environment.
    • Cleaning and sanitizing animal housing areas to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
    • Monitoring animal health and reporting any concerns to the appropriate staff.
  • Behavioral Enrichment:
    • Designing and implementing behavior enrichment programs tailored to the individual needs and species-specific behaviors of animals.
    • Creating and introducing a variety of stimulating activities, toys, and environmental enhancements to promote natural behaviors.
  • Positive Reinforcement Training:
    • Utilizing positive reinforcement techniques to train animals in cooperation with veterinary procedures, handling, and basic commands.
    • Collaborating with staff to address and modify undesirable behaviors through positive reinforcement and behavior modification plans.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Maintaining open and effective communication with staff members to ensure seamless care and attention to our companion animals.
    • Working collaboratively with the team to develop and implement cohesive care plans.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience working with companion animals, preferably in a shelter, sanctuary, or similar setting.
  • Strong knowledge of animal behavior and positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Excellent observational and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical fitness and agility to work in various environments and handle animals safely.
