Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machinist to join our team and support the development and manufacturing of hypersonic rockets and ultra-high performance thermal protection systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in hardware integration and production, and will work closely with our engineering team to eliminate roadblocks and achieve our technical goals.
Key Responsibilities- Review samples and drawings to understand specifications and requirements
- Plan and coordinate the sequence of actions for completing a job
- Take precise measurements and mark materials for cutting or shaping
- Select and position machines and load materials for a job
- Determine the necessary tooling and machine setup to complete a task
- Monitor machines and adjust feed, temperature, and identify issues
- Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages
- Machine parts with various angles and thicknesses, holding a tolerance of 0.003
- Use basic hand tools and pneumatic tools, such as drill motors and angle grinders
- Proven experience as a machinist with a minimum of 5 years
- Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated, or automated tools and machines
- Ability to use precision tools, such as calipers and indicators, to take accurate measurements
- Knowledge of the properties of metal and other materials
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and schematics
- Good mathematical skills and analytical abilities
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items weighing 25lbs or more
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship is an asset
