Position Overview

The Palliative Care Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering compassionate nursing services to patients within the Inpatient Unit (IPU). This role involves collaborating with patients, their families, and a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive management and coordination of care, while also evaluating the effectiveness of hospice services through the development of tailored care plans.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct nursing care to patients in the IPU, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Engage with families to provide support and information regarding the care process.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to manage and coordinate patient services effectively.
  • Assess and evaluate the appropriateness of hospice care, adapting plans as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program; ASN required, BSN preferred.
  • Possession of a valid Registered Nurse license in North Carolina.
  • A minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience is preferred.
  • Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care is advantageous.
  • Physical capability to lift, turn, and transfer patients, with a minimum lifting requirement of 40 pounds.
