Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer - Water/Wastewater

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead our water/wastewater design engineering and construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading structural condition assessments, producing design calculations, technical reports, permitting, detailed design and engineering plans and specifications for water/wastewater projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Mentor junior structural engineering staff and organize structural related engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work.
  • Research feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications.
  • Lead the development of calculations, plans, specifications, requests for proposals, and other contract documents.
  • Work directly with engineering disciplines, office/project staff, clients, and sub-contractors throughout the project life cycle.
  • Exercise judgment on details of work and make preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Manage the production of engineering and construction drawings, specifications, bid packages, and cost estimates for projects.
  • Function as an Engineer of Record, Task Manager, or Project Engineer on projects to manage related budgets and schedules.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • 10 years of structural engineering experience in water/wastewater.
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Structural or Civil/Structural in Virginia, Maryland, DC, or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of hire.
Key Attributes:
  • Strong structural analysis and design skills, including STAAD Pro and other structural software.
  • Strong technical writing and editing skills.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Functional knowledge and experience with AutoCAD/REVIT software.
  • Excellent working knowledge of all building codes and standards such as IBC, ACI, etc.

The salary range for this position is $97,600 - $157,380/year. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, including experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
