Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing facilities. This individual will be responsible for performing various maintenance activities, responding to maintenance requests, and completing projects as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plan for corrective action.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machines and equipment at the proper intervals.
  • Make necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality.
  • Review production schedule and change over equipment to new sizes or perform scheduled maintenance when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing.
  • Test equipment to check operation and clear jams and set aside product for inspection and rework.
  • Examine, test, and measure product from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using gauges and instruments, and record data on appropriate forms.
  • Check product for visual defects and make preventive maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment, reporting findings to supervisor and taking appropriate action.
  • Analyze and record cause of production delays on daily production report.

Additional Duties:

  • Repair and adjust small machines, such as drill presses, punch presses, grinding and buffing heads, riveters, bench power and hand tools, involving replacement of bearings, spindles, electrical switches, etc.
  • Work from drawings, sketches, specifications, and instruction manuals, using scale, square, levels, miscellaneous power bench tools, wrenches, carpentry tools, etc.
  • May oil and grease equipment in absence of oiler and greaser, and perform product examination and rework when line is down due to causes beyond mechanic's control.

Requirements:

  • Ten years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledgeable in skilled trades.
  • Well-rounded knowledge of practices, tools, equipment, and materials used within the Civacon manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of building codes is desirable.
  • Basic reading, writing, and computation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
  • Ability to effectively problem-solve.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, write, verbalize, and comprehend instructions and correspondence in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to team members, co-workers, and outside vendors.

Mathematical Skills:

Basic computation skills.

Physical and Visual Activities:

Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, balancing, stooping, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, acuity-far, acuity-near, depth perception, and field of vision. See all colors.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, you may be standing or sitting for long periods of time. You may be frequently required to walk, bend, squat, or twist.

Environment/Atmospheric Conditions:

You will spend time in an office environment as well as out on the shop floor. You may be exposed to loud operating machinery, hot and cold temperatures, chemicals, and vapors.
