Key Responsibilities
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all laboratory activities are performed in accordance with applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Production Management: Organize and prioritize workflow across core production, hospital services, and specialized production to enhance services in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a cohesive team in the absence of management, demonstrating the ability to execute technical skills department-wide.
  • Quality Assurance: Facilitate and prioritize workflow, cover gaps in production, and handle day-to-day production and distribution questions.
  • Process Improvement: Manage the process of reviewing policies and procedures to improve laboratory services.
  • Deviation Resolution: Assist in resolving and investigating deviations and help prepare corrective actions.
  • Staff Scheduling: Assist in staff scheduling and determining shift hours for open positions.
  • Training and Development: Train staff members in production processes when required.
  • Manufacturing: Perform blood production manufacturing processes on red blood cells and/or platelets.
  • Order Processing: Process orders for blood, components, and derivative products consistent with regulatory standards while meeting customer expectations.
  • Supply Management: Maintain laboratory supplies and equipment as assigned.
  • Monitoring: Monitor CLIA and Proficiency Testing when required.
  • Project Work: Ability to lead or participate in functional or cross-functional project work.
  • Availability: Work weekend, holiday rotations, and on-call, as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in biology or related science preferred.
  • Experience: Management and human resources approval based on experience required.
  • Competencies: Demonstrates successful performance and competencies of Senior Production Specialist required.

  • Leadership: Leads a cohesive team approach by promoting the importance of working within and across departments.
  • Communication: Ability to read and interpret Standing Operating Procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and other manuals.
