Job Summary:

Tradesmen International, Inc. is seeking a skilled Marine Shipfitter to join our team in the San Diego, CA area. As a Marine Shipfitter, you will be responsible for assembling, cutting, and grinding metal structural parts, aligning parts in relation to each other, and performing layout work according to blueprints or preference lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, cut, and grind metal structural parts to include plates, bulkheads, strong backs, turnbuckles, and come-along
  • Align parts in relation to each other
  • Tack and weld foundation and structural members
  • Perform layout work according to blueprints or preference lines
  • Mark location of holes to be drilled
  • Drive wedges and install temporary fasteners to hold part in place for welding
  • Other tasks as assigned

Requirements:

  • 5+ Years of Experience
  • Knowledge of Blueprint Reading
  • Knowledge of Ship Terminology and different metals
  • Good Burning, Welding, and Craftsmanship Skills
  • Mechanically Ability Preferred
  • T1 Welding Certification Required for FCAW, Flux core, SMAW, Stick, etc.
  • Shipfitter Test
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Safety Awareness
  • Must have OSHA 10 Maritime and Firewatch Certification
  • Background Check and Drug Screen
