Medical Specimen Collector

Location: Matthews, NC

Schedule: 8am-5pm, Monday through Friday

Projected duration: 3 months with potential for permanent placement

The primary function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, including troubleshooting, training, and workflow recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
  2. Properly explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures to patients.
  3. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
  4. Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature.
  5. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
  6. Attend annual department trainings and answer telephone calls.

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where employed, minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and high school diploma or GED.

Pediatrics experience is preferred.
