Job Summary
The Occupational Therapist, Certified Hand Therapist is a key member of the healthcare team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. This role reflects the organization's mission, vision, and values, adheres to the Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessment and Treatment Planning
Evaluate patients' physical functioning in activities of daily living, identify desired functional outcomes/goals, and determine a therapeutic intervention plan.
Therapeutic InterventionInstruct, encourage, and assist patients in performing therapeutic physical activities, incorporate appropriate assistive and supportive devices.
Progress Monitoring and EvaluationEvaluate the effects of treatment, observe and note patients' progress and response to therapy, recommend adjustments and modifications.
Patient Education and SupportProvide patient, family, and caregiver education and instruction in home care programs.
Interdepartmental CollaborationAct as the liaison between interdepartmental staff, management, and external agencies.
Requirements
This role requires a strong understanding of occupational therapy principles and practices, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
