As a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired, you will be responsible for providing high-quality education to students with visual impairments. Your expertise will be essential in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs and learning goals.

Key responsibilities include:

* Providing direct instruction in core subjects, braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and other specialized areas to students with visual impairments.
* Adapting instructional materials and teaching strategies to accommodate various visual impairments and learning styles, ensuring equal access to educational content.
* Assessing students' visual abilities, functional vision, and progress, and utilizing assessment data to inform instructional planning and modify teaching strategies as necessary.
* Fostering the development of independent living skills, self-advocacy, and assistive technology skills among visually impaired students.
* Providing consultation and guidance to school staff, parents, and caregivers on strategies and accommodations for supporting students with visual impairments.
* Maintaining accurate and comprehensive records of student progress, assessments, and services provided.

Requirements:

* Bachelor's or master's degree in education, Special Education, Visual Impairments, or a related field.
* Valid state teaching certification, with endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.
* Previous experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably in an educational setting.
* Strong knowledge of braille, specialized instructional strategies, and assistive technologies for students with visual impairments.
* Familiarity with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and the ability to develop and implement effective IEPs.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
* Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach in supporting students with visual impairments.
* Ability to adapt and problem-solve in order to meet the unique needs of each student.
