Position Overview: The Horticulture Detail Crew Leader plays a crucial role in overseeing a small team of 2-3 personnel tasked with executing various landscaping and grounds maintenance activities. This position involves the upkeep of multiple landscape locations, managing projects of varying sizes and complexities, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality outcomes. The role necessitates substantial hands-on involvement, including plant care, weed management, installation of flowers and plants, pruning, and seasonal maintenance tasks. Furthermore, during the winter months, the position requires readiness for snow and ice management duties at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team on landscaping initiatives, guaranteeing superior quality results.
  • Oversee the maintenance of landscape sites under the guidance of a supervisor.
  • Execute tasks such as weed identification and removal, plant installation, pruning, and seasonal maintenance.
  • Administer snow removal operations, which include plowing, snow blowing, and applying de-icing materials.
  • Educate crew members on specific site requirements, equipment usage, safety measures, and maintenance practices.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and maintain accurate documentation of daily activities and schedules.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in grounds maintenance with familiarity of local plant species.
  • Basic understanding of landscape construction methods.
  • Knowledge of plant care, including irrigation, fertilization, and pest/disease management.
  • Experience with ladders and holiday lighting is advantageous.
  • Reliability and punctuality are critical.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to effectively perform the essential functions of the Lawn Detail Technician.

  • While executing the responsibilities of this role, the employee is frequently required to stand, communicate, bend, stretch, pull or push, and lift items.
  • Capability to lift 50 lbs or more, work in diverse weather conditions, and stand/walk for extended durations.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid chauffeur's license.
  • Fertilization/Pesticide License (must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not already held).
