Job Summary:
Mission Veterinary Partners is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Kennel Attendant to join our team at Brooklyn Veterinary Clinic and Paws Pet Resort in Castle Rock, CO. As a Kennel Attendant, you will provide daily care, feeding, and exercise of boarding and hospitalized pets, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care and attention to boarding and hospitalized pets, including feeding, walking, and cleaning their enclosures.
- Monitor pets' health and behavior, reporting any abnormalities or concerns to veterinarians and technicians.
- Administer medications and provide medical care as needed, under the supervision of veterinarians and technicians.
- Maintain accurate records of pets' care, including feeding schedules, medication administration, and behavioral observations.
- Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of kennel areas, including disinfecting cages, runs, and equipment.
- Provide exceptional customer service to pet owners, responding to their questions and concerns in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the clinic and resort.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; animal care experience preferred.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with pet owners, veterinarians, and other staff members.
- Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to perform successfully the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.
Working Conditions:
The Kennel Attendant will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with exposure to a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, and other small animals. The position requires the ability to work in a noisy environment with sounds from animals and equipment, as well as exposure to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances.
