Position Overview
This role involves utilizing advanced computerized x-ray technology to generate detailed cross-sectional images of the human body, assisting medical professionals in identifying a range of health conditions. The technician adheres to established protocols while also possessing the capability to modify settings on the imaging console to accommodate varying patient needs, all while minimizing radiation exposure and ensuring high-quality diagnostic images. Essential patient history related to the imaging procedure is documented meticulously. The technician is responsible for preparing the examination area and setting up necessary equipment for procedures. Proficiency in initiating intravenous lines for contrast media administration using an automated injector is required. Effective communication with colleagues and external physician offices is vital to ensure accuracy in order processing, contributing to the smooth operation of the imaging department. Engagement in accreditation and quality improvement initiatives is expected.

Essential Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a recognized Radiologic Technology Program from an accredited institution that meets the standards of the ARRT registry for Radiology.
  • Current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and a valid State Radiologic Technologist License, or eligibility for State of Indiana Student Technologist license with the expectation of obtaining the technologist license within six months of employment.
  • ARRT certification in Computed Tomography or completion of the registry within two years of employment in this specialty. ARRT (CT) certification is mandatory.
  • CPR certification is required or must be obtained at the next available training session upon hiring.

Work Environment

  • Typical clinical setting within a hospital, requiring frequent standing and walking.

  • Involves handling protected health information.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed by the department.
