At Coastal Veterinary Hospital & Pet Resort, we are dedicated to providing top-quality veterinary care and services to our community. As a key member of our team, the Kennel Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our patients.
Responsibilities- Maintain a clean and efficient environment for animals being treated or boarded at the hospital.
- Feed and care for hospitalized animals and boarders.
- Monitor and record important information about animals' conditions, behavior, and habits.
- Walk animals three times a day and notify the Doctor or Veterinary Technician/Assistant of unusual medical or behavioral problems.
- Clean treatment, exam, surgery, and lab areas daily.
- Maintain laundry throughout the day and keep laundry area neat.
- Assist the Doctor and Veterinary Assistant with restraint and treatment of animals.
- Monitor and maintain the kennel inventory, including food, cleaning supplies, and laundry supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned to assist the Doctor, Receptionist, and Veterinary Technicians/Assistants in the smooth operation of the clinic.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Flexible schedule, including some weekend and vacation shifts.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong communication skills, good judgment, and ability to manage stressful situations.
- Physical and mental capacity to perform in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
- Previous experience as a kennel assistant.
- Competitive pay range of $13-$15/hour based on experience.
