Job Summary

The Electrical Maintenance Engineer will perform engineering functions within the maintenance department to optimize machine operating time. The scope of work involves reducing the failure rate of equipment & machinery, optimizing equipment maintainability, extending equipment life and introducing engineering solutions that expedite maintenance services while improving operator effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as an internal consulting engineer for the maintenance department & general engineering consultant to the plant.
  • Partner with the Preventive Maintenance (PM) Engineer to manage the maintenance department reliability program.
  • Propose and implement capital and expense projects for the maintenance department. Offer input on the development of rebuild & replacement capital projects. Review capital projects for reliability & equipment serviceability issues.
  • Participate in root cause analysis & develop feasible engineering solutions. Serve as the technical consultant for development & implementation of the maintenance information system.

Requirements

  • A Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical engineering along with demonstrated experience using AutoCAD, data analysis, project management, and root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience diagnosing and troubleshooting process and equipment problems and preparing procedures, technical bulletins and equipment specifications.
  • Demonstrated intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and AutoCAD.
  • Electrical Skills -- Broad-based, hands on knowledge and experience with various types of instrument and electrical systems, equipment and software
  • Experience with power distribution through transformers, substations, and MCCs
  • Experience with electrical reliability maintenance practices such as switchgear breaker testing and electrical thermography
  • Thorough understanding of Industrial Electrical Safety - NFPA 70E certification preferred
  • Ability to read, modify, and create electrical schematics
  • Ability to design electrical systems required for running industrial equipment including motor selection and sizing, motor control method selection and sizing, electrical protection devices (breakers, overloads, etc.), wire selection, and PLC integration devices.
  • Hands on familiarity with electrical test devices and thorough understanding of their purposes (multimeters, meggers, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting electrical systems and root cause analysis of electrical systems.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs
  • Experience with PowerFlex Drives
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., without current or future requirement for sponsorship of an employment-based visa status
