Our client, a prominent player in the international upstream oil and gas industry, is in search of a seasoned attorney with over 7 years of relevant experience. The organization prioritizes its workforce, seeking individuals who are not only exceptionally skilled but also collaborative and thoughtful. This role presents a unique opportunity to acquire invaluable international exposure in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering strategic legal guidance to internal stakeholders concerning various legal issues associated with exploration, production, and development initiatives. This includes:

  • Overseeing and directing the legal components of intricate international transactions, encompassing business development, asset acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and significant project developments.
  • Drafting and negotiating a range of upstream agreements, such as leases, assignments, gas/oil sales, and other purchase/sale contracts, trading/lifting agreements, joint operating agreements, and preferential purchase rights.
  • Formulating and negotiating supply chain contracts, including transportation and goods/services agreements.
  • Collaborating with fellow attorneys in the Legal Department on commercial transactions related to special projects and acquisitions.
  • Addressing general operational, marketing, training, and health, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Identifying potential risks, claims, and disputes arising from commercial contracts and transactions, while proposing effective solutions.
  • Advising on the implications of proposed local and international legislation and judicial decisions on the company's operations.
  • Managing local real estate, employment, and corporate governance matters.
  • Coordinating with external counsel during due diligence and for regulatory, tax, and jurisdictional advice.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal budgets as directed by the General Counsel.
Qualifications

Education:

  • LLB, LLD, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Preferred dual qualification in both common law and civil law jurisdictions.

Language Requirements:

  • Eligible to work in the designated location.
  • Proficient in business and legal English, both oral and written.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in the relevant field.
