Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and resilient Product Quality Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to learn and develop. In this role, you will play a critical part in New Product Development, ensuring exceptional quality and performance through comprehensive reviews, testing, and risk management. You will enhance processes utilizing FMEA, ANOVA, and DOE methodologies, lead significant continuous improvement initiatives, and drive process enhancement projects. Your duties will encompass designing effective workflows, resolving quality challenges, analyzing data, and educating teams to improve product reliability and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • New Product Development: Oversee the New Product Development process by managing the Phase Gate process, ensuring quality and performance, mitigating risks, and qualifying products to meet industry standards. Develop qualification plans, conduct testing, analyze results, and collaborate with teams for seamless production transitions. Perform Reliability Analyses to forecast product lifespan and performance.
  • Process Development and Optimization: Conduct Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate potential manufacturing failure points. Develop and implement strategies to optimize processes, reduce waste, enhance productivity, and improve product quality. Proficiency in Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Design of Experiments (DOE) is essential for investigating process variables and maximizing process capability.
  • Continuous Improvement and Value Engineering: Lead and support continuous improvement projects and Value Engineering efforts. Focus on streamlining processes, minimizing costs of poor quality (COPQ), maximizing overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), enhancing productivity and quality, and increasing customer satisfaction through systematic problem-solving and process optimization using Six Sigma and other methodologies.
  • Project Management: Direct and manage process improvement projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and successful outcomes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on improvement initiatives. Monitor project progress, manage risks, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
  • Workflow Design and Implementation: Create and implement efficient workflows, layouts, and workstations to optimize manufacturing processes. Conduct time and motion studies to establish standard work practices and enhance productivity.
  • Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Assist in investigating product quality issues reported from manufacturing, testing, or customer feedback. Analyze root causes and coordinate with relevant teams to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions. Document and communicate findings and resolutions effectively to all stakeholders.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect and analyze production and quality data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare and present detailed reports on process performance, quality metrics, and improvement initiatives. Utilize data-driven insights to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Training and Mentoring: Educate and mentor teams on new processes, workflows, and quality improvement techniques. Assist in developing training materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant physical science is required.
  • Experience: 0 - 4 years of professional experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in quality control principles, statistical analysis, and process optimization techniques. Familiarity with statistical software (e.g., JMP, Minitab, SAS) is desirable. Certification in Six Sigma, Lean, or related quality improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Personal Skills: Must exhibit enthusiasm and cooperation with a positive attitude. Strong attention to detail, analytical and decision-making skills, and the ability to resolve complex issues effectively are essential. Emotional maturity and interpersonal skills are crucial for working effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required. The candidate must be able to quickly understand, summarize, and communicate complex issues and discussions.
  • Flexibility: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities while managing multiple tasks.

  • Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be willing to work in environments that require frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
