POSITION OVERVIEW

As a key player in the Facilities & Services Division of the Phoenix Police Department, the Landscape Maintenance Team Leader will oversee a dedicated team responsible for the upkeep and management of extensive landscaping areas. This role is crucial in maintaining the aesthetic and functional aspects of our outdoor environments.

The successful candidate will supervise a team of up to twelve personnel, including various job classifications such as Parks Maintenance Mechanic, Equipment Operator III, Urban Forestry Technician, Gardener, and Groundskeeper.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will be expected to:
  • Lead and manage the landscape maintenance team to ensure high standards of service and care for over 287 acres of landscaped areas.
  • Engage in report writing and review, data collection, and contribute to report generation.
  • Review and provide feedback on construction plans and conduct inspections on landscape-related projects.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and address landscape maintenance issues.
  • Manage herbicide applications, plant care, and irrigation systems.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and Sustainable Landscape Management practices.


Work hours are typically scheduled from 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of varying hours including nights, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.

COMPENSATION

The pay range for this position is between $24.93 and $47.01 per hour, with a hiring range of $24.93 to $35.08 per hour.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should possess:

  • A background in landscape maintenance, airport operations, or related fields is preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in managing teams.
