Responsibilities:- Engage in original, professional-level research in analytical chemistry, focusing on chromatography-based separation techniques coupled with mass spectrometry platforms.
- Develop and maintain methods for analyzing various target threat substances, such as energetic materials.
- Lead instrument maintenance and co-mentor research assistants.
- Write progress reports, peer-reviewed publications, and proposed plans.
The AUCPS/DCSITE program serves as the primary academic resource to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for expertise in detection canine sciences. Our team integrates best scientific practices in analytical chemistry, genetics, genomics, reproduction, veterinary and sports medicine, olfactory neuroscience, behavior and cognition, metrology, and engineering to advance detection canine sciences.
Requirements:- Ph.D. in analytical chemistry or a closely related discipline at the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated expertise in gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), including sample preparation, analysis, and data interpretation.
- Experience in liquid chromatography and ion mobility spectrometry is desired.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, written communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to self-direct a research project.
