Deputy Chief Digital Health Officer

The Deputy Chief Digital Health Officer is a key member of the VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION's Executive Leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Digital Health Officer. This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership and championing innovation in the application of informatics technology and tools in a healthcare setting to advance healthcare processes, clinical decision support, and clinical predictive modeling.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategy, policies, and procedures for the evaluation, implementation, and use of digital health information systems.
- Ensure the VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION is maximizing the potential for digital health technology to achieve excellence in Veterans and staff experiences, health outcomes, and access.
- Collaborate closely with end users in the field and Veterans to understand their needs and how VA's digital health solutions are and are not working for end users.
- Oversee the design, standardization, deployment, and implementation of digital health tools throughout VHA to augment the provision of whole healthcare for Veterans, caregivers, and staff.
- Working in partnership with VA's Office of Information and Technology, ensure VA's digital health system architecture is appropriate for VA's needs with regards to usability, reliability, and functionality for system end users.
- Integrate VHA's varied and disparate digital health needs into a coherent and actionable set of digital health priorities for execution.
- US citizenship is required.
- One year probationary period required for initial SES appointment.
- Males born after must be registered for Selective Service.
- Incumbents of this position will be subject to a background investigation commensurate with the risk and sensitivity level of the position.
- Successful completion of drug screening required.
- Public Financial Disclosure Report (SF-278) is required within 30 days of appointment.
- May be subject to reassignment geographically or organizationally.
- VA structures its SES positions into pay bands. This is a pay band 2 position and the salary range is $147,649 to $214,300.
To meet the minimum qualifications, applicants must possess the following technical and executive core qualifications. These qualifications would typically be gained through progressively responsible management or executive level assignments such as director of a regional office, medical facility, or program manager.

Expert-level knowledge of current concepts in healthcare such as communicating and providing guidance on national-level healthcare policy to internal and external stakeholders, defining and evaluating new policy recommendations that directly impact patient care, overseeing senior leadership and staff responsible for national healthcare policy, analyzing information and data to identify improvement opportunities to maximize access to care, and developing treatment standards to monitor the quality of care on a national level.
