Job Summary

As a Senior Civil Structural Engineer at Qualus Services, you will play a key role in designing and detailing mat and pier type foundations for substation structures. You will also design substation structures ranging from simple equipment supports to overhead line towers, applying applicable codes and client standards to ensure quality and project costs meet client requirements and internal company quality control and quality assurance practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop overall conceptual design plans in the initial development phase of new projects.
• Work with renewable energy developers and other clients to support specific schedules and cost estimates.
• Design foundations using commercially available software such as LPILE.
• Develop steel structure models for rigid bus and equipment supports.
• Perform company's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with external business partners; present information and respond to questions from individual or groups of clients.
• Direct and/or participate in client meetings/job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data.
• Mentor less experienced staff on a wide range of technical and project management skills.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science or Master's in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
• 6+ years of experience performing civil structural engineering calculations.
• Proficient with drafting programs such as AutoCAD and MicroStation a plus.
• Professional Engineering certificate.
• Experience in transmission, distribution, and generating stations a plus.
• Strong analytical and computer skills; ability to identify necessary software to complete needed design work.
