As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of electro-mechanical medical devices. Your expertise will be crucial in establishing project schedules, budgets, and resource needs, as well as developing system-level design strategies and testing components and sub-systems.

About the Role

This is a leadership position that requires a strong technical background and excellent communication skills. You will be working closely with a team of 15 mechanical engineers and reporting to the Director of Mechanical Engineering. As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading cross-functional teams to design and develop new products
  • Developing and implementing design strategies and testing plans
  • Collaborating with electrical and software engineering teams to ensure seamless integration
  • Managing project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 10+ years of hands-on product development experience, specifically with handheld electro-mechanical consumer products
  • Principal-level mechanical engineering experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team of engineers

Preferred Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Medical device experience
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams
  • Understanding of ISO 60601
  • Familiarity with contract manufacturing
  • SolidWorks experience
  • FEA experience
