We collaborate with military, medical, academic, and governmental entities to manage and support leading scientific initiatives that benefit both service members and civilians. Established in 1983, HJF has played a crucial role in connecting the military medical community with federal and private partners. Our support and administrative expertise empower military medical researchers and clinicians to focus on their scientific endeavors and achieve their research objectives. HJF is currently looking for a Senior Biostatistician to deliver biostatistical expertise for military field-based and clinical research. This role involves conducting statistical analyses on data gathered from extensive field-based and clinical military research projects. The Senior Biostatistician will engage in cross-functional teams or specific initiatives with clear outcomes and will perform data analysis with appropriate guidance and controls.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with researchers, clinicians, data managers, and other domain experts to assist in the design of biomedical research protocols, ensuring alignment of statistical analyses with research goals.
  • Offer statistical support through consultation and data analyses throughout the study lifecycle, and aid in the preparation of statistical reports for presentations and publications.
  • Provide relevant statistical and project status updates to the Principal Investigator and research team.
  • Work alongside data managers and/or data scientists to plan and develop database infrastructure for each research initiative.
  • Demonstrate experience in performing statistical analyses for clinical and field-based research studies, including intervention studies, epidemiological studies, and patient-reported outcomes research.
  • Present findings, results, and recommendations to project teams, leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • May undertake additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor, including participation in required training for the role.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Advanced understanding of statistics and research study design.
  • Familiarity with field-based and clinical research paradigms, methods, and workflows.
  • Experience with large-scale healthcare datasets, electronic health records (EHR), or similar medical research data, preferably in military medical research.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Stata, along with experience in data manipulation and analysis libraries.
  • Knowledge of analytics tools and cloud-based data systems.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, healthcare systems, and clinical research processes.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and critical reasoning abilities.
  • Capability to investigate data issues and engage in remediation activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Physical Requirements:
  • Lifting: Ability to lift materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Capacity to stand or sit at a computer for extended periods.
Work Environment:
  • This position is primarily based in a laboratory, clinical, or office setting.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of relevant experience, or
  • Master's Degree in a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
