Ravinia is seeking a skilled clarinet instructor to join our team of music educators. As a part-time, hourly instructional employee, you will have the opportunity to inspire and educate young students in the Sistema Ravinia Lake County nucleo.

Responsibilities
  • Teach clarinet studio and brass sectionals to elementary and middle school students
  • Assist with full orchestra rehearsals and large ensembles as needed
  • Foster student empowerment and focus on the holistic education of each child
  • Develop creative lesson plans that promote social and musical growth
  • Participate in faculty development sessions to create and implement shared ideals and innovative curriculum
  • Assess student progress on an ongoing basis
Qualifications
  • Enthusiasm for El Sistema and its philosophy of social change through music
  • Interest and ability to be a motivational mentor and role model for students, parents, and community
  • Superior interpersonal skills
Work Environment
  • Working at John Lewis Middle School and Ravinia
  • Working after school two to three days per week with some evenings and weekends required for concerts and special activities
  • Interaction with young students, parents, and administrators where the safety of the students is paramount
