At the Garland City, we are seeking a highly skilled GIS Analyst to join our team. As a GIS Analyst, you will be responsible for managing and implementing all facets of the Street Department's Geographic Information System (GIS) database and Cartegraph Asset Management System.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and update all GIS maps, databases, software, and equipment.
- Acquire, create, and analyze geographic data.
- Provide GIS data, maps, and reports for the City of Garland Street Department.
- Recommend new products and methodologies necessary to create and maintain an effective GIS program.
- Serve in a lead role on project teams and/or provide oversight of work and train other staff.
Requirements:
- Associates degree or currently enrolled in vocational training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Information Technology, Computer Science, Cartography, Data Management, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience with GIS using ESRI ArcGIS software and field data collection.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Four-year college degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Information Technology, Computer Science, Cartography, Data Management, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience with GIS and field data collection, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of experience in construction, surveying, civil engineering, or maintenance operations with a focus on municipal infrastructure.
