Prekindergarten Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Prekindergarten Aide to join our team at St. James Catholic School. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the lead teacher in the direction and supervision of a group of prekindergarten children.

• Oversee daily small-group activities for an assigned group of children, ensuring their safety, involvement, and creativity.
• Assist in the implementation of daily plans in accordance with the current curriculum, working cooperatively with the lead teacher.
• Participate in all activities, including housekeeping, lunch, rest time, and record keeping, as part of the teaching team.
• Develop and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development.
• Collaborate with the teaching team to plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons that meet the needs of all students.

• At least 18 years of age.
• Sound moral character and ability to provide care conducive to the welfare of children.
• Minimum of a Child Development Association credential, an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Development, or 5 years of experience in an Early Childhood or Education Setting.
• Active membership in a faith community and ability to model the teachings of Jesus and familiarity with the Catholic understanding of ministry.
• Knowledge of child development and sensitivity to the needs, interests, and problems of children.
• Physical ability to perform the job of a teacher of young children.
