The Victim Witness Advocate will provide critical support to victims of crime and their families. This role involves explaining the complexities of the criminal justice system, providing crisis intervention services, and referring victims to specialized counseling or social services. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be organized, and have a passion for helping others.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide victims and witnesses with information on significant developments in investigations and adjudications.
- Assist victims in completing applications for compensation and act as a liaison between victims and the Division of Crime Victim's Compensation.
- Provide written material about and an explanation of victim impact statements and assist victims in completing and filing statements.
- Coordinate and implement direct services to crime victims, including disseminating victim assistance materials and recommending written interagency service agreements.
Requirements
- Possession of a high school diploma/GED, plus college courses in criminal justice, sociology, or a related field.
- Minimum of one year of experience in direct delivery of human services.
