Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Technician III to join our team at Baltimore City Public School System. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain a variety of HVAC and mechanical systems, including boilers, air handlers, chillers, and pumps.
  • Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on HVAC and mechanical equipment.
  • Monitor and adjust temperature and schedule settings on building automation controls.
  • Keep accurate daily logs and input data into a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Supervise and manage other maintenance and service employees assigned to assist.
  • Maintain boiler and mechanical rooms, including sump pump monitoring and safety protocol.
  • Monitor and assist in maintaining hydronic system water treatment.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience in the operations, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC and mechanical systems.
  • Valid first or second-grade stationary engineer's certificate issued by the Maryland State Board of Examining Engineers or equivalent HVAC Technician's license.
  • Universal EPA refrigerant certification.
  • Valid Maryland Class C driver's license and own transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Trade school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of building automation controls and programs.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and specifications.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
