About the Role
RWT Consulting Group's client is a prominent entity in the renewable energy sector, seeking to hire a Project Development Manager for Battery Energy Storage.
The Project Development Manager will concentrate on the greenfield and project advancement of large-scale storage initiatives across the United States. This role involves identifying and securing new locations, as well as assessing project acquisitions, investment prospects, and co-development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate essential project development activities, including permitting, landowner relations, stakeholder engagement, financial feasibility assessments, engineering/design evaluations, and legal project reviews.
- Support the planning process, facilitate internal communications, and provide business updates.
- Prepare, review, and assist with requests for proposals and bids.
- Facilitate negotiations for the acquisition and development of renewable energy projects nationwide.
- Help cultivate and maintain relationships with critical landowners, community leaders, industry organizations, business developers, regulatory bodies, and other relevant contacts to support business objectives.
- Manage a portfolio of development projects, from greenfield and interconnection phases to marketing support, pre-construction, commissioning, financing, and operational management.
- Assist finance and M&A teams in providing technical and developmental inputs for business models.
- Coordinate and prepare all necessary materials to ensure a seamless transition of projects from development to financing, EPC, and operational management teams.
- Conduct and analyze market research related to the national renewable energy landscape.
Qualifications
- A degree in engineering or a related field is preferred; however, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- 3-5 years of experience in renewable energy, specifically in solar or storage sectors.
- Familiarity with the ERCOT region is advantageous.
- Access to and knowledge of potential developers in the U.S. interested in selling or co-developing projects.
- Strong understanding of interconnection and transmission processes and agreements.
- Willingness to travel as project needs arise.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a strategic mindset and a strong drive for success.
- Proactive, independent, adaptable, and capable of prioritizing tasks effectively. Strong problem-solving skills and a solutions-oriented approach are essential.
