The Airborne Systems Business Area is seeking a software engineer for the development of software applications and tools for manned aircraft, unmanned systems, and weapons systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with customers, stakeholders, and team members to refine software component requirements and designs.
  • Contributing to User Experience (UX), software quality, graphics design, aesthetic design, iteration plans, release plans, and on-schedule implementation.
  • Developing software primarily in C#.
  • Utilizing WPF for front-end UI development.
  • Working in an innovative, technology-driven self-disciplined team environment using the Agile Scrum framework within a tailored CMMI-based software process.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, or an engineering degree and applicable experience in software development.
  • An overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • At least 2 years of prior relevant experience in software engineering.
  • Strong competency in software development in C#.
  • Experience with WPF.
  • Ability to debug, troubleshoot, and isolate software issues.
  • Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
  • Strong sense of ownership and drive in digging into complex problems.
  • Ability to participate in and contribute to software design and code reviews.
  • Residency in or willingness to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications

Desirable skills and experience include:

  • Experience with frontend/UI development.
  • Experience working with CI/CD platforms such as Gitlab CI.
  • Experience with VCS such as Git, Mercurial, or SVN.
  • Candidates with experience in supporting flight test.
  • Candidates with understanding of UAS architectures and subsystems.
  • Candidates with understanding of flight-critical software requirements.
  • Candidates with understanding of flight behavior and aircraft performance.
  • Candidates with a desire for a long-term technical career path.
  • Candidates with experience in automated testing.
  • Candidates with experience in open architecture.
