Warehouse and Distribution Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled Yard Operations Manager to join our team at A.P. Møller - Maersk A/S. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of our warehouse and distribution operations.

• Staffing and Scheduling: Determine staffing needs based on workload and schedule staff accordingly to ensure efficient operations.
• Yard Operations: Evaluate and coordinate daily yard operations to ensure accuracy and fluidity, maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
• Communication and Collaboration: Communicate closely with the Planning, Operations, and Transportation and Logistics departments to execute plans and effectively service Maersk, 3rd party trucking fleets, and operational requirements.
• Operational Procedures: Review and update operational procedures as necessary, ensuring they are communicated to and understood by employees and stakeholders.
• Productivity and Performance: Track productivity and qualify performance by individual, function, and department, identifying areas for improvement.
• Payroll and Benefits: Manage payroll of the department, ensuring premium rates and overtime are entered accurately and meeting payroll deadlines.
• Class 1 Operator Management: Manage the operational hours of Class 1 Operators, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Employee Support: Support and direct shunt drivers, top pick operators, and gatehouse staff, maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
• Safety and Security: Ensure that proper safety procedures are followed, conducting frequent internal audits regarding yard safety, housekeeping, and security.
• Conflict Resolution: Maintain harmony among workers and resolve grievances in a fair and timely manner.
• Maintenance and Equipment: Work with the Maintenance Department to ensure that equipment is safe for operation, performing regular maintenance and repairs as needed.

• Direct Supervision: Directly supervise 15+ employees across multiple shifts, providing guidance and support to ensure successful operations.
• Employee Development: Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work.
• Performance Appraisal: Appraise employee performance, providing feedback and coaching to improve performance and achieve goals.
• Discipline and Conflict Resolution: Discipline employees and address complaints and resolve problems in a fair and timely manner.

• Education: College/university diploma with a focus on transportation/operations management or equivalent experience in logistics and transportation preferred.
• Technical Skills: Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Applications, including TMS and YMS systems.
• System Knowledge: Strong supervisory skills, excellent planning ability, critical and strategic thinking, and considerable knowledge of SSLs and off-dock operations.
• Experience: Experience with container stack yards and a strong understanding of logistics and transportation operations.
