Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in Acute Care Microbiology.
  • Associate's Degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Chemistry.
  • National Certification as a Medical Technician.
  • State licensure as required (specific states may apply).

  • Proficiency in laboratory methods and a thorough understanding of microbiology and infectious disease processes.

Responsibilities

The Microbiology Technician will be responsible for:

  • Processing and testing specimens, including moderate and high complexity testing.
  • Ensuring timely and compliant specimen processing in accordance with departmental policies and accrediting agency standards.
  • Performing preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment as per departmental schedules.
  • Applying problem-solving skills to ensure the accuracy of test results and optimal equipment performance.
  • Understanding and adhering to laboratory quality control and assurance protocols.
