POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the close supervision of the Director and/or Supervisor, the individual is tasked with executing assigned cleaning responsibilities, routine custodial tasks, and preventive maintenance services in a proficient manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & STANDARDS

  • Perform dusting, polishing, and organizing of furniture or equipment.
  • Mop and polish flooring surfaces.
  • Vacuum and shampoo carpets and draperies.
  • Clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, bathtubs, and shower areas.
  • Polish plumbing fixtures to maintain their appearance.
  • Ensure mirrors, light fixtures, doors, windows, and sills are cleaned thoroughly.
  • Wash and maintain the cleanliness of walls.
  • Complete the room cleaning schedule as assigned.
  • Collect and dispose of trash from units in designated containers.
  • May assist with utility work throughout the facility.
  • Participate in project work such as stripping and refinishing floors as needed.
  • Handle and mix cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Work independently while demonstrating flexibility, integrity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with residents, family members, staff, and support agencies.
  • Maintain courteous interactions with residents, colleagues, and visitors.
  • Uphold confidentiality standards for residents and employees, demonstrating knowledge of relevant privacy laws.
  • Exhibit teamwork and adaptability in fulfilling the facility's needs.
  • Punctually report for scheduled shifts and utilize time efficiently.
  • Adhere to the established dress code for the department.
  • Understand and comply with policies regarding abuse and emergency procedures.
  • Take responsibility for all information outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Engage in training sessions, workshops, and seminars as directed.
  • Wear appropriate protective clothing and equipment when handling hazardous materials.
  • Follow established Infection Control and Universal Precautions protocols during daily tasks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

  • Ability to manage stressful situations effectively.
  • Proficient in speaking and writing the English language in a clear manner.
  • Capability to see and hear or utilize prosthetics to enhance these senses.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Capacity to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, and move intermittently throughout working hours.
  • Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals used for cleaning.
  • Potential exposure to infectious waste and various health conditions.
  • Ability to relate to and work with residents who may have physical and emotional challenges.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
