Position Overview
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will report directly to the Director of R&D for North American Hand Tools. In this pivotal role, you will spearhead a team of Product Development Engineers dedicated to the research, development, and successful introduction of innovative products to the marketplace.Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and implement cost, quality, and delivery metrics for new product development initiatives, ongoing product support, and cost enhancement programs.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for the product categories under your purview, which include measuring & layout, storage, and lifting solutions.
- Act as a vital source of expertise and authority in the technologies, processes, and cost factors associated with product design.
- Collaborate closely with the Project Management Office to ensure timely project execution, driving new product development projects with a strong sense of urgency.
- Engage with suppliers, manufacturing engineering, and operations teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize designs for manufacturability and efficiency, ensuring cost-effective and producible designs.

- Work directly with internal business units and global integrated supply chain teams to effectively contribute to new product development and support initiatives aimed at quality, reliability, and cost reduction.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in part design, material selection, processing, tooling design, failure analysis, and testing.
- Preferred experience of 3+ years in a leadership role with a proven track record of successful product launches.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams both domestically and internationally.
- Innovative mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement of self, team, and processes.
- Proficient in complex problem-solving techniques related to technical challenges.
- Strong instincts and sound judgment in mechanical and structural design.
- Excellent analytical capabilities, with the ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple concurrent tasks.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as CREO, SolidWorks, or Inventor, with a preference for CREO.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Design for Six Sigma is advantageous.
- Knowledge of fits & finishes and GD&T.
- Familiarity with PPAP, DFM/A, DVP&R, DFMEA, and PFMEA.
