Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Freight Operations Supervisor to join our team at Freeman. As a key member of our Event & Exhibit Services team, you will be responsible for supervising the freight operation and dock labor at show sites across the country.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise dock labor at show sites, assigning qualified personnel to efficiently perform all duties in accordance with standard practices.
  • Assist in the training of all dock labor, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
  • Provide direction to all subordinates to ensure a safe work environment, conducting regular safety and service meetings to promote a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Interact with Facility Managers to ensure all facility rules and regulations are adhered to, and determine the needs and request equipment, tools, and labor required to produce each show event.
  • Ensure the location of all rigging and machinery, and order and supervise all drivers and machine operators, as well as related equipment such as cranes and large capacity forklifts.
  • Communicate with decorating operations and account executives on the scheduled move-in and move-out of each show, and work closely with customers throughout the event to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Analyze and explain invoices to customers, and contact exhibitors regarding shortages, damages, or re-routes on outbound shipment.
  • Project labor and analyze labor using the labor budget tool, and produce accurate payroll forms, timecards, or timekeeping system for all labor worked on shows.
  • Complete a post-show recap after the show is completed, and ensure job cost is kept to a minimum without sacrificing services to all customers.
  • Ensure all equipment is returned from show sites to the warehouse, and perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required; College Degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of industry-related experience preferred; 2+ years of supervisory experience in a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with current material handling rates, show rules and regulations, association requirements, and pertinent information for a show.
  • Ability to perform basic computer functions in Freeman programs, and experience and versed in programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to pass an MVR screen.
  • Travel up to 25%.
