Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Inspector to join our team at HF Sinclair Corporation. As an Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring the mechanical integrity of refinery equipment, conducting inspections, and analyzing results to identify trends and prioritize corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct advanced inspection duties and assignments for the Inspection Department under minimal supervision.
  • Lead and direct the work of others, establishing policy and practice as needed.
  • Act as liaison with other departments within the refinery, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure company records comply with regulatory requirements and certify equipment integrity as necessary.
  • Maintain historical databases for equipment used, analyzing corrosion rates, inspection scope, and frequency modification.
  • Interpret inspection results, analyze trends, and write and prioritize work for corrective action.
  • Oversee quality assurance program implementation for new construction and repairs or alterations.
  • Coordinate Turnaround Support activities and turnarounds for new construction.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced Inspectors and approve work of Contracted Inspections and NDE services providers.
  • May make Auto Cad changes for new installation and issue Equipment Deficiencies and non-conformance reports.
  • Develop inspection plans and review inspection department procedures.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of on-the-job experience, including significant time spent as an NDE Technician, Inspector, or in Maintenance.
  • Experience in design, construction, repairs, inspection, or operations of pressure vessels, piping, tanks, and a working familiarity with welding processes.
  • Preferred experience in a Supervisory role.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Ability to lead and direct the work of other associates, advanced knowledge of inspection methods, and certifications in API-510, API-570, API-653, AWS CWI, and ASNT SNT-TC-1A Level II in RT, UT, MT, PT, VT.
  • Computer program familiarity with MS Office suite and data management programs in use within the Inspection Department.
Work Environment

The Inspector will work in an office and field-based environment, with up to 5% travel by land and air required. The position will involve working in a petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-doors environment, and driver-based environment, with exposure to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, and other hazards.

Physical Requirements

The Inspector will be required to stand, walk, sit, twist, stoop, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspection, making precise hand and finger movements, reaching or grasping, lifting and/or carrying up to 40lbs, pushing and/or pulling up to 40lbs, climbing up to 180ft, perceiving color differences, and wearing personal protective equipment.
