About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated CT Technologist Lead - Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team at UNC Health Care. In this key leadership position, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our CT Scan department, overseeing procedures and tests, and analyzing patient diagnostic data.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Identification and Safety: Verify patient identification, obtain patient history, assist patients with special needs, and ensure accurate documentation of pregnancy status for patients of childbearing age.
- CT Scans and Image Analysis: Obtain images according to protocols, manipulate images as needed, perform multi-planar and 3D reconstructions, and select appropriate window and level settings based on anatomy.
- Contrast Administration: Administer oral contrast to adult and pediatric patients as per protocols, establish IV lines, administer IV contrast safely, follow correct procedures for determining contrast eligibility, and verify lab values before injection.
- Image Transfer and Quality Control: Maintain thorough understanding of PACS, transmit images to QC, UNCH's EMR, EPIC, and PACS, verify image segments at the QC station, access IMPAX service tools, complete, modify, or cancel orders timely, and avoid duplicate billing.
- Additional Duties: Perform tasks efficiently, run schedules for consistent workflow, volunteer for challenging tasks, produce high-quality diagnostic images, review patient charts and reports for correlation, maintain a clean and organized work environment, document incidents for improvement opportunities, and precept new employees and students.
Requirements:
- Education: Completion of an accredited program in Radiological Science or within 3 months of application.
- Licensure/Certification: Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences or registry-eligible, providing a diploma from an accredited program for eligible candidates. Advanced certification in CT within one year of employment is required, with ongoing registry maintenance and continuing education annually.
- Experience and Skills: Prior experience and training providing the ability to perform assigned tasks, with a focus on maintaining current competency in HCP BLS.
