Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing Company, is seeking a highly skilled Astrodynamics Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and operation of astrodynamics systems for our space missions.
Responsibilities- Perform astrodynamics and orbit analyses to determine the most efficient trajectories for our spacecraft.
- Determine and derive astrodynamics requirements to perform customer missions, ensuring that our spacecraft meet the necessary specifications.
- Optimize spacecraft trajectories based on fuel, time, and/or performance characteristics, using advanced mathematical models and simulation tools.
- Define and develop tools and processes to be used by mission operations and the broader team, ensuring seamless integration and collaboration.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and assurance of engineering quality for the team, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering or other related technical or engineering discipline.
- 7+ years industry experience in orbit analysis role(s), with a strong background in orbital mechanics, orbit design, and astrodynamics.
- Experience with orbit design and simulation software tools, such as GMAT, STK, and COTS mission planning tools.
- Proficiency with scientific computing software, including MATLAB, Python, Julia, Fortran, and C++.
- Technical leadership experience, including requirements generation, delegation, and management of technical tasks, as well as responsible engineering authority (REA) experience.
- MS or PhD in aerospace engineering or other related technical or engineering discipline.
- 10+ years industry experience in orbit analysis role(s), with a strong background in rendezvous and proximity operations, formation flight, and orbit determination and parameter estimation techniques.
- Experience with restricted three body, periodic, and quasi-periodic orbit modeling and design, as well as spacecraft trajectory optimization methods and software.
- Specialization in advanced orbital mechanics topics, such as trajectory optimization, relative motion maneuvering, and orbit determination techniques.
