Set Up Technician
The role of the Set Up Technician is to set up production equipment, including injection molds and molding machines, to support manufacturing operations. This involves identifying defects and making process adjustments to eliminate defects. The technician will also provide support to operators for in-process inspection and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including daily cleaning and organization of work areas, work tools, and surrounding areas.
- Identify 5S opportunities and take initiative to clean, organize, and improve department cleanliness.
- Interpret production schedules to set up equipment in support of production demand.
- Install injection molds into molding machines according to company procedures.
- Set up injection molding machines according to company procedures.
- Prepare auxiliary equipment for production support, including drying equipment, degating equipment, and packaging requirements.
- Prepare raw materials for production support.
- Report labor and production transactions accurately in the ERP system.
- Support other areas/functions within the department/facility when requested to support production operations.
- Perform equipment start-up and shut-down maintenance and troubleshoot operational issues with tooling, machines, or auxiliary equipment.
Qualification Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 4 years' related experience.
- Proven experience in successfully setting up and processing injection molding machines is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Responsible for identifying defects and making process adjustments within allowable limits to eliminate defects.
- Injection molding process parameters.
- Defect identification.
- Root cause analysis.
- Scientific molding principles.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Shop math.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be required to stand. Specific vision abilities required by the job could include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
