Western Roasting Specialist

Counter Culture Coffee is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Western Roasting Apprentice to join our team. As a key member of our roasting department, you will be responsible for training in the processes involved in roasting coffee at our Emeryville Roastery.

• Receiving and storing green coffee shipments in a logical and organized manner.
• Pulling green coffee and loading roasters to ensure efficient production.
• Roasting coffee to order each day, adhering to our quality control standards.
• Logging data for roasts produced and documenting organic purges.
• Working within our Netsuite system to manage inventory and production.
• Understanding and implementing our quality control regiment as set forth by the Coffee Department.
• Performing as an effective and skilled coffee taster to ensure quality standards are met.
• Managing roasting byproducts to maximize reuse or recycling.
• Operating the Optical Sorter and contributing to daily sorting of roasted coffee.
• Assisting in organizing and cleaning of roasting and green coffee workspaces, including maintaining equipment and tools.
• Assisting in general daily warehouse maintenance and cleaning.

• Prior roasting experience is a must.
• Ability to work for 8 hour days, often standing and with repetitive motions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs many times throughout the day.

• Climbing, balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.

• Exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and hazards.
