Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Beauty Education Specialist to join our team at the Alabama Department of Education. As a Cosmetology Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality classroom instruction in lecture, clinical, and/or laboratory format based on the approved course outline.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development: Plan, prepare, and deliver quality classroom instruction in lecture, clinical, and/or laboratory format based on the approved course outline.
  • Classroom Management: Manage classroom environment through compliance with district policies including, but not limited to classroom management, attendance, punctuality, and professionalism.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Develop and deliver curriculum based on key learning objectives and utilizing best practices and various technologies to deliver instruction.
  • Syllabus Development: Create a syllabus which includes key learning objectives, class norms, attendance and grading policies, work habits expectations, a calendar of due dates for class assignments, projects, quizzes, tests, etc.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Develop authentic, engaging, hands-on learning projects to meet learning objectives and develop assessments which track effectiveness of teaching and learning.
  • Industry Partnerships: Develop and maintain contacts and partnerships with local industry professionals.
  • Professional Development: Participate in high school and CTE staff meetings as well as professional development opportunities provided through the district and annual Industry related PD as required by the state.
  • Student Engagement: Participate in student CTE organizations, workshops, and competitions (SkillsUSA, etc.).
  • Program Promotion: Take part in promoting and marketing the program to meet enrollment goals.
