Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Culinary Specialist to join our team at KinderCare Education in Newburyport, Massachusetts. As a Culinary Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing healthy and nutritious meals and snacks for our children. You will work closely with our nutritionist to develop menus and recipes that meet the dietary needs of our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks to our students, following established menus and recipes.
  • Order food and supplies as needed, ensuring that we have the necessary ingredients and equipment to provide high-quality meals.
  • Dispense and store medication, as requested, and complete timely and accurate documentation according to KinderCare and other licensing or regulation requirements.
  • Assist with daily center duties, as needed, and support the success of our center by partnering with staff and leadership to achieve goals around enrollment, accreditation, and engagement.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with food safety and handling procedures, including proper food storage and cross-contamination avoidance.
  • Ability to follow established menus and recipes, and prepare sufficient quantities of food for our students.
  • Basic math skills required for measuring and calculating serving portions.
  • Possession of a Food Handler's License or willingness to obtain.
  • At least one year of institutional cooking experience, with food ordering experience highly desirable.
  • Two or more years of experience working with children, highly desirable.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and use a computer with basic proficiency.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English to communicate with children and their parents.
