Job Summary

The Animal Lab Tech I role at CEDARS-SINAI is a critical position that requires a high level of attention to detail and a strong commitment to animal welfare. As a member of the Comparative Medicine team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to laboratory animals, ensuring their health and well-being, and supporting the success of our research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily care of laboratory animals, including feeding, watering, and cleaning of enclosures.
  • Monitor animal room environments and report any abnormalities to the appropriate personnel.
  • Follow established protocols for providing unique diets and medicated water to animals.
  • Operate equipment such as cage-washers, autoclaves, and automatic water bottle fillers.
  • Provide care for animals with special needs, including those that are immuno-compromised or biohazardous.
  • Assist with animal handling and restraint, under the supervision of clinical staff.
  • Participate in rodent breeding programs and assist with animal conditioning and treatments.
  • Operate department vehicles as required.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED required; 1 year of experience preferred.
  • Assistant Laboratory Animal Tech (ALAT) certification preferred.
