About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Mental Health Technician Trainee to join our team at the Mabley Developmental Center in Dixon, Illinois. As a trainee, you will receive comprehensive instruction and training in providing care for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete on-the-job training assignments totaling a minimum of 120 hours in formal classroom training and a minimum of 400 hours in on-the-job training.
  • Perform beginning-level direct care functions in the care and habilitation of individuals with developmental disabilities, on assigned units, during the trainee period.
  • Actively participate in and complete formal classroom training, including physical care and support of individuals, management of maladaptive behaviors, injury prevention, and injury reporting.
  • Escort individuals during activities, including self-help activities, education, and medical events.
  • Perform basic housekeeping assignments, including mopping, cleaning tables, removing trash, and weighing up to 50 pounds.
Requirements
  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to physically restrain individuals as necessary to prevent injury to individual or others.
  • Ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
  • Ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
